Hello, ya little s'mores! On episode 21 of HINKY, the gang welcomes some guests! Mat and Hanna from S'more Than a Feeling join us for a fun-filled show where we talk about all kinds of good stuff. We recap Lexington Coffee and Tea week with Sara's top 5 drinks, plus we preview Crave Taco Week, taking place THIS week (3/2/20-3/8/20) and discuss whether Lexington should spread these weeks out a little more since they're so bunched up right now. We also celebrate some birthdays: both Renee and Mat were born on this day, along with a bunch of other people...it's a very popular birthday haha! This week's social media question finds us making a case for other desserts over birthday cake, and we fill Mat and Hanna in on our ongoing hot fudge feud. The Food Fight Cage Match has the birthday boy in the ring cooking up some homemade s'mores for us to try, and spoiler alert: they're amazing! If you're in the central KY area you need to come out to one of their pop-ups, so follow them on Instagram and Facebook to see where they're going to be at this spring! As for us, you can subscribe to the podcast wherever fine podcasts are heard!

Hello, babycakes! On episode 20 of HINKY, the gang celebrates Mardi Gras...kinda. We don't throw beads or eat king cake, but we do talk a little about the history of Mardi Gras while we eat and drink a lot! We reminisce about the Hot Ones challenge from our last episode and wonder why it's okay to wear a hat in one part of a fancy restaurant but not in another. Renee tests our knowledge of Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, and we talk about covering both Lexington Coffee and Tea Week AND Richmond Burger Week on the blog. This week's social media questions ask what you would be willing to give up for Lent and if you like Cajun foods, while we get all comfy in the octagon and eat food from Bourbon & Toulouse in the Food Fight Cage Match! How did Nate survive the weekend? You'll ask yourself the same question when you hear what all he did haha! All of this and a lot more await you in this extremely goofy episode of Hungry in Kentucky! Be sure to subscribe to us wherever you get podcasts, and follow us on social media!

Hello there, hot ones! On episode 19 of HINKY, the gang had a lot to talk about so hopefully you're ready for an hour and a half of straight fire! We talk about Carrie's new business venture, Nate expresses his love of Shakira and Latin music as we recap the Super Bowl LIV halftime show, and we wrap up Lexington Chicken Sandwich Week with Renee's MySpace Top 8: Chicken Sandwich edition. We hear some good news and some bad news in Renee's Reports, and we subject Nate to his worst nightmare in our HINKY Hot Ones challenge. How spicy is TOO spicy? This is the question we posed for our social media friends this week, and you guys did not disappoint with the answers! We munch on some of those sweet, sweet chicken wings from Indi's here in Lexington during the Food Fight Cage Match, and we try a new way of promoting ourselves on the show. Did it work? Only one way to find out! Subscribe to us on your favorite podcast app to hear this and all past episodes, and tell your friends - everyone needs a new favorite show in their lives, why not let it be us!

THICC Dip
Wednesday Jan 22, 2020
Wednesday Jan 22, 2020
Hello, ya little football fans! On episode 18 of HINKY we're talkin' bout the Super Bowl! We make predictions (or just pick who we want to win, really) for Super Bowl LIV, which will feature the Chiefs vs the 49er's, and we briefly talk Super Bowl halftime shows of years past. This week's social media question is a poll: which do you like better? Buffalo chicken wings or buffalo chicken dip? We discuss our preferences and read off your answers as well as reveal the results of the poll from Twitter and Instagram. There's also a quiz called "How Kentucky Are You?" courtesy of Kentucky for Kentucky, and we throw buffalo chicken dip into the octagon for another edition of the Food Fight Cage Match. Hear this and so much more on this week's episode, and subscribe for past and future episodes; we're on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, Google Play, Podbean, and iHeartRadio!

Wednesday Jan 08, 2020
Hello, ya little gluten-free miracles! On episode 17 of HINKY, the gang welcomes a guest! Leigh, co-host of the podcast Girls Beer Sports with our dope producer Carrie, comes on to talk about living with Celiac Disease and where she can find good things to eat around central Kentucky. Carrie debuts her shiny new toy (complete with flashing lights and sound effects!), we recount our NYE festivities, and Nathan tells us about a tasty rye offering from a local distillery here in Lexington. Leigh tells us about the science behind what happens to your body when you suffer from gluten-intolerance, what to look for when you go out to eat if you're following a gluten-free diet, and what kinds of alcohol she can drink. We discuss our New Years' resolutions/intentions, and we even throw some gluten-free treats into the cage when we try some baked goods from Gluten Free Miracles, a local bakery here in Lexington that serves only gluten-free items, as well as keto, paleo, and vegan options. This is definitely a fun episode, y'all are about to learn a lesson or two when you listen to this one! A Church Basement Christmas
Tuesday Dec 24, 2019
Tuesday Dec 24, 2019
Hello, ya little mistletoes! On episode 16 of Hungry in Kentucky, the ladies of the show go solo for a Christmas-themed church basement potluck! Well, there wasn't actually a potluck, but we did talk about them quite a bit! We recap our last episode, the live remote from Broomwagon Coffee + Bikes, and talk a lot about what we did while we were away from the microphone. There was also extensive talk about Christmas traditions, with AND without food options, and we discuss our own personal experiences with family during the holidays. The Food Fight Cage Match saw competitors joining forces for the good of humanity and tasting some sweet Christmas treats, and Renee gets us geared up for the New Year with some fun January events! 'Tis the season...#potluckszn...so if you want to celebrate the holidays with us then give us a listen! Subscribe to the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Podbean, Stitcher, and iHeartRadio, and check out our latest blog post featuring Caramanda's Bake Shoppe on our website bbandeats.com!

Mayhem & Mimosas: Live! From Broomwagon Coffee + Bikes
Tuesday Dec 10, 2019
Tuesday Dec 10, 2019
Hello, ya little mimosas! This is our first remote podcast episode live at Broomwagon Coffee + Bikes in Lexington, KY as a part of Mayhem and Mimosas: A Very Wine & Pop-Tarts Christmas VI! The gang takes the show out of Fort Lewis studios and into a bike shop/cafe for a good cause - a canned food drive for God's Pantry! We talked with the creator of this annual Christmas show, Brett Smith of Wine & Pop-Tarts, about how this came about and what you can expect to see and hear at one of these events. We went rogue with the electrical situation and recorded with battery power so we had to cut the time kinda short, but we think you'll enjoy this light version of the show just the same! We hear about everyone's Thanksgiving festivities (spoiler: Carrie was the only one who had a successful one), Renee brings us the only news that matters on the airwaves: local food news and Nathan talks about his recent rare bourbon purchases. We ditch the Food Fight Cage Match this week and replace it with dishes from the Broomwagon cafe, and everyone gets to try local versions of their favorite wintry drinks. If you weren't present for the rest of the day, you missed out on some treats: there was live music from Normal People, and Brett showed us the world-premiere of his newest horror film, Little Smokies. He tells us his inspiration for the film on the podcast, so listen now to hear the horror of it all! You'll be able to see Little Smokies on YouTube in a few months, but hopefully, this episode will tide you over until then. Subscribe to us wherever you listen to podcasts - we're on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Podbean, and now...Stitcher and iHeartRadio!

Tuesday Nov 26, 2019
Tuesday Nov 26, 2019
Hello, ya little turkeys! On episode 14 of HINKY, it's Thanksgiving time and boy howdy, do we celebrate America's most underrated holiday right! Carrie regales us with her November slogan, "Make Thanksgiving Great Again", Nathan makes his case for why he prefers Thanksgiving over Christmas, Renee tries to justify having her Christmas trees up early, and we change the name of Christmas to Thanksgiving 2: Electric Boogaloo! We discuss everyone's favorite Thanksgiving side dishes, Sara educates the group on banana croquettes, Nathan gives us his Bourbon of the Week and we hear some good news stories during our new segment, Renee's Reports! This week's Food Fight Cage Match features a fan-favorite side dish, mashed potatoes, and the results are wild, to say the least! We hear about some local events and so much more, so subscribe and download to hear this and all of our past episodes now! We're on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher, and Podbean.

Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
Hello, ya little pepperonis! On episode 13 of HINKY, the OG crew is in the bourbon room to discuss all things pizza. We talk about last week's Lexington Pizza Week festivities, your favorite unique pizza toppings, whether or not we like pineapple on pizza, and so much more! We even throw it way back to episode 1 with the Food Fight Cage Match by tossing pizza's favorite side dish, cheese sticks, into the ring to see who survives the octagon! We also have Nate's Bourbon of the Week, Renee's News Corner, too much onion talk, and Renee's Events Corner to keep you up-to-date on the happenings of Lexington, KY. Nate poses a question of expertise, Carrie and Sara have an extended conversation about UK campus food throughout the years, and Renee gets really worked up about Wendy's sweet and sour. Hello, ya spoopy little ghosts! In this episode of HINKY, we welcome guest Brett from Wine & Pop-Tarts to the show! Since we're two days out from Halloween, we decided to have a spooky-themed show with a lot of talk about horror movies and Halloween candy. Brett tells us what's coming up next from Wine & Pop-Tarts, and we discuss Carrie's harrowing trip home from Paris. We find out about everyone's favorite Halloween costumes, and Brett and Sara reveal how they know each other (spoiler: Carrie was very surprised)! We also address not one, but two, social media questions and try to answer the age-old Halloween question: why do people like candy corn so much? Hear what else we have to say by downloading now, and be sure to subscribe where you find podcasts!
